Deshawne’s Guidestone Ohio Success Story
At 18 years old, Deshawne dropped out of high school and entered the workforce, determined to provide for his family and care for his newborn son. He was laboring tirelessly in an unfulfilling manufacturing factory job and found himself wanting something more. He found a new opportunity when a friend referred him to the Youth One Stop & Employment Link program.
Deshawne enrolled in the program to obtain his GED and find more success in the working world. Half way through his classes, Deshawne was hired for the night shift as at McDonalds, and quickly advanced to a management position.
Deshawne continues to study and plans to take the GED exam soon. “Youth One Stop & Employment Link gave me a different kind of focus,” says Deshawne. “Today I am determined to achieve bigger life goals instead of focusing on all the material things. I am just trying to live life the best way I can.”
